*SOLD* Blue Moon Necklace
Delightful colors of the sea embellish this one of a kind necklace with African Trade Beads, and African brass double disc beads for spacers. The beads are strung on black Greek leather which is known for it’s smooth finish, consistent color and extra soft & supple texture from the very first time it’s worn. This piece finishes with a sterling silver lobster clasp. These beautiful translucent colorful beads are made by the Krobo People of Ghana, Africa. Powder glass beads are made by crushing glass to a fine powder and heating it so that the particles fuse together. The glass is then poured into clay molds, with a cassava leaf stem used to make the hole. They are baked in an oven and the glass fuses and the casssava stem burns up. This technique has been used in Africa for centuries. Today these beads are more popular and collectable than ever. Thousands of these trade beads are in private collections around the world. The African Traders are having to go deeper and deeper into Africa to find more of these beads and many styles which were readily available just 5 years ago are no longer seen today. And what amazing colors.......it’s like looking at the ocean...my favorite colors! Please expect some imperfections as some of these beads are old and all are handmade. Length-18 inches. A 2-inch extender chain may be added below.
